One Track Mind Premiere
Posted by: Alex | Tuesday, September 30, 2008Chris Malloy's One Track Mind premiered in Cardiff with two showings. The crowds came out and the reviews are in:
"Rather than the usual artsy, hippie, trip-out “Malloy” film, One Track Mind is a clean, concise documentary that could easily be a 2008 update to the classic 1990 Bill Delaney film Surfers: The Movie."

etnies X Adult Swim
Posted by: Alex | Monday, September 29, 2008etnies and Adult Swim will get animated this fall with a new collaboration featuring shoes inspired by the network’s popular cartoon characters. Two very limited-edition styles of the etnies Jameson were designed by Adult Swim artists and Creative Director Jacob Escobedo. The collaboration marks the first time that the two companies have teamed up resulting in a product infused with the irreverent cultures of two industry-leading brands.

In October, the Jameson green suede shoe, inspired by the character Ignignokt from the top-ranked Aqua Teen Hunger Force television series, will debut in select boutiques under the etnies Plus label. The etnies Plus collection consists of numbered, limited-edition shoe series with hand-stitched construction and embroidered details influenced by etnies’ skateboarding heritage.

The following month, the second shoe in the collection will be released under the main etnies line and will encompass a variety of the characters seen on different Adult Swim shows such as Early Cuyler (Squidbillies), Meatwad, Frylock and Master Shake (Aqua Teen Hunger Force). The shoe will feature brown leather with blue laces and detailed laser etching. Both shoes will include the etnies signature STI Foam™ footbed.
“Like etnies, Adult Swim is a brand that is not afraid to take risks,” said Eladio Correa, etnies brand marketing manager. “We think the off-beat colors and unique detailing of the shoes in this line will resonate with both skaters and Adult Swim fans”.
Launched in 2001, Adult Swim features original and acquired animated comedy and action series airing overnight on the Cartoon Network, a channel seen in 91 million U.S. homes. Known for its unusual humor and quirky characters, Adult Swim provides entertaining programming with occasional “bumps”, or breaks from regular shows in which short jokes or internet fan feedback are sarcastically broadcast in simple white letters over a black screen.
To celebrate the launch of the collaboration, etnies and Adult Swim teamed up for a party held at the etnies showroom in New York City on September 25th, showcasing the highly anticipated line to more than 300 guests. Adult Swim artists created one-of-a-kind art pieces on canvas etnies Jameson shoes that were on display at the launch party along with original Adult Swim art. Stay tuned for pics and details!

One Track Mind Premiere & Interview
Posted by: Alex | Friday, September 26, 2008Gearing up for tomorrow's world premiere of One Track Mind, Surfline sat down with Chris Malloy who claims,
"The film is a pretty straightforward discussion with the guys who are pushing surfing to places it's never been. It covers everything from the latest boards and fins these guys are riding to their stories about beating up judges. There are no discussions like, 'Surfing's made out of magic and it makes me feel so connected to the fish' in this flick."

Save Our Souls eBay Auction
Posted by: Alex | Tuesday, September 23, 2008WHO: Infamous riders in conjunction with their sponsors and Infamous Management
WHAT: Infamous has teamed up with The Center for Snow and Avalanche Studies to bring you the SAVE OUR SOULS CHARITY AUCTION. After voting to give 100% of the proceeds to CSAS for their commitment to investigating snow system's behavior and role in human/environmental relationships, our riders donated tons of product for you to bid on including boards, boots, bindings, watches and signature product.
WHEN: Monday September 29th, 2008 * 7 DAYS TO BID
WHERE: Go to www.ebay.ca and enter keywords "infamous sos charity auction"
FOR A FULL LIST OF ITEMS GO TO:
http://www.infamousmanagementinc.com/
WHY: Climate Change effects our environment and our sports!
Let's face it as snowboarders, skateboarders and surfers we leave a heavy environmental footprint. Snowboarders, from pros to weekend warriors, negatively impact the climate with our gas guzzling SUVs, oil sucking snowmobiles, riding high speed lifts and flying to various resorts and so on. Even surfers are hurting the environment; wetsuits and surfboards aren't the most eco-friendly items out there and the more you surf the faster you go through them. Unless you live right on the coast you're likely burning up gas driving to your favorite break or flying to tropical surf spots. Skateboarders' footprints might be a bit smaller since their skateboards sometimes serve as a source of transportation when going from spot to spot, but what about all of those shoes you're grinding through or skate park road trips? As pros in these sports our impact is substantially greater. The impact we're having on our environment seems overwhelming but that's no reason to turn a blind eye. To help make our carbon footprints smaller we can carpool to the mountain, beach or skate park; we can ride bikes; we can donate old product. We can also donate money to a worthy cause...HELP OUT THE CSAS now by participating in our auction!
Up for Grabs:
JP Walker is one of the top snowboarders of his era, and one of the best ever to strap in, so grab an item from his kit and channel his technical skills. For Infamous' SOS Charity Auction he has donated his signature Oakley O frame goggles and a pair of his signature 32 Prospect boots which have been autographed by the Don himself.
Seth Huot's solid MDP video parts and gnarly rail skills have made him one of the best snowboarders out there. Seth put together a sick package for the Charity Auction. In case you haven't heard Volcom is making snowboards, but they're not just giving them to anyone, they're for the Volcom team. But you could have your very own Volcom shred stick courtesy of Seth. Also take a look at the dope Nixon watch, Volcom outerwear and other gear he's kicked in.
Nomis is Simon spelled backwards so what better way to get your hands on some Nomis gear than from Simon Chamberlain himself? He has hooked up a whole bunch of Nomis hoodies including his signature OG Plaid hoody, and a bunch of outerwear. If that's not enough for you, fear not, Simon also donated a zillion New Era hats and some tees.
You've probably checked out Stevie Bell in Transworld Snowboarding's September 2008 issue by now, so you'll know exactly what I'm talking about when I say the Special Blend "Lifty" jacket he's wearing in his SB ad could be all yours. Bid for it on the eBay site right now!
Spencer O'Brien won her first X Games medal this past winter on a Burton Blender 151. She's offered up that board for the Charity Auction so you can tap into her good luck. Spencer has also donated 2 B By Burton jackets which she helped design.
Leilani Gryde has had a good showing so far this year in surfing's World Qualifying Series, currently ranked in the top 20. She has also been busy traveling all over the globe filming for the upcoming Oakley all-girl video. Whenever Leilani has a minute to chill out she likes to slip on some etnies Chula II flip flops. Knowing that not all girls are created equally etnies has hooked up a pair in every size (women's 6-10).
Stian Solberg thinks Pow Sucks. Ok not exactly, but he's stoked on the Stepchild Powder Sucks board which is why he has donated it to Infamous' SOS Charity Auction. Stian also threw in a pair of his favorite Defcon pipe gloves.
Joe Sexton's pants are way too tight for 32's Timba boots, but he knows there's plenty of baggy pant wearing bros that are stoked on them, so he's hooked up a pair for the Charity Auction. Joe also kicked in a track jacket to complete the look. Check it out on eBay.
Meghann O'Brien worked super hard this past season to put together a segment in Runways' upcoming flick "See What I See," full of pillow lines and backcountry action. She's donated the kit she was rocking while filming this season including a Forum setup (board and bindings), and one of her favorite Foursquare jackets.

Weekend Results
Posted by: Alex | Monday, September 22, 2008As you know, Bear Mountain's Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails kicked off the snow season for all of us sun-soaked SoCal locals. Our girl Leanne took 4th place among the women and enjoyed the summer set up.
Meanwhile down in Cardiff, the Roxy Longboard Jam once again made waves as the only ASP Women's longboard event in all of North America. As such, the even drew competitors from far and wide including Mary O and Lauren Ngan. The two placed 33rd and 49th, respectively, each adding to their ASP points totals.
And coming up later this week... Tarah Gieger heads to England representing Puerto Rico, for the 2nd year in a row, in the MXoN. Good luck Tarah!
etnies BOK!
Posted by: Alex | Monday, September 22, 2008Saturday was the 10th anniversary of the Burnside BMX BOK (Burnside Open Championships), the BOK-series is guaranteed a fun day.
etnies Burnside BMX Bok, Deventer NL, 20-09-08 from Bakkejan on Vimeo.
The contest and the practice sessions were a lot of fun. Everybody was having a great time riding with each other and some riders really stood out... like Ronaldo from Hengelo, who isn’t a familiar face for most riders but I’ve seen him ride before. He threw in some big suicide no handers over the volcano and qualified with a couple of flair attempts. In his semi final run he went for a big wall tap to barspin in but didn’t pull it.

Local hero Franky Elshof went loose caboose. He pretty much sleeps at this park. He did some crazy ass tricks, like superman seat grab air, 3Whip to fakie and truck driver over the spine. But it wasn’t enough to finish in the top 3.
Style king Virgil was dialed as a madman. With nice looking 540s, turndowns to fakie and 360 inverts he came out 3rd.

There he was again... Channon ‘el toro’. He is on fire lately, winning every event he enters. He kept his head calm and did what he had to do to win with all kinds of 360 combos... 360 back paddle and 3whips and, to top it off, spine flip and a huge flair. He won his first BOK.
Results:
1 Channon Balorian
2 Mark Vos (etnies)
3 Virgil
4 Franky Elshof
5 Barry Köhne (etnies)
6 Roy van Kempen
7 Tim Frijters (etnies)

Save Trestles Hearing!
Posted by: Alex | Friday, September 19, 2008It's time to rally for Trestles one more time! We did it before and won! But the TCA isn't backing down; they've appealed the Coastal Commission's decision against the Toll Road expansion... and we can't let them win on appeal, right?
If you've ever appreciated this natural resource, either in person or through the countless surf films and photos of our beloved beach break, please don't let a piece of overpriced freeway ruin it for future generations. Rally the troops and join us THIS MONDAY, September 22nd, at the CA Coastal Commission Hearing. We'll be there all day long, but even if you can only come for an hour or two, every single person's physical presence will make a difference. Carpool if you can but just get there! Save Trestles!
Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds
When: September 22, 2008 ~10:30 A.M. - 8:30 P.M.
Why: The toll road threatens San Onofre State Beach Park but we can stop it!

Ronchetti Wins SLC Free Flow!
Posted by: Alex | Thursday, September 18, 2008Paul-Luc takes the win at SLC to grab a Wild Card for the DEW Tour Final.
etnies UK rider and current British Vert Champion Paul-Luc Ronchetti competed last week along with over 50 of the best amateur action sports athletes at the Free Flow Tour finals in Salt Lake City. These are the Official Amateur Series of the AST Dew Tour and Paul-Luc held his own and came away with the win in the Skate Vert final. Sitting alongside the Dew Tour, this amateur series is all about "Flow to Pro", with Paul-Luc now taking the wild card spot to compete against the pros at the final stop of the AST Dew Tour, the PlayStation Pro®, in Orlando, Fla.
Paul-Luc is only 15 years old and has been riding for etnies for 2 years, so it's gonna be a big jump up for him, but so far this talented vert rider has taken everything in stride.

Two Wheel Tour: Day 4
Posted by: Alex | Thursday, September 18, 2008etnies Two Wheel Tour, Day 4...

The fourth and final day of the tour started off with a huge hangover from the party at the Broken Spoke Saloon.

To liven up, we hit the Olympic size pool for a refreshing dip that also doubled as a shower since there was not enough water on the bus for everyone. After that it was breakfast and another Harley ride before a few of the boys had to fly off to other events.

The rest of the boys got geared up in their MX gear and put on a show for the crowd.

The Demo consisted of Mike Jones, Kenny Bell and OX along with a local rider by the name of James Carter. Together they put on a show that, hands down, was the best thing in town. OX and Bell were flipping while Jones and Carter busted out just about every other trick in the book.

At the end Mike Jones got the crowd pleaser award and used his time with the Microphone to apologize for a few reckless stunts he pulled the night before at the bar. Some things never change! And with that we were back at it again, this time hitting the crowded downtown streets before a final run at the Broken Spoke Saloon. That was another crazy night that can’t be discussed in detail. And that was a wrap! We are out of here!

Two Wheel Tour: Day 3
Posted by: Alex | Monday, September 15, 2008The etnies Two Wheel Tour continues...

Wow. Day three started a little rough considering we had a 7am call time and did not get checked into the super plush Hilton hotel in Casper Wyoming until after 2am. Unbelievably, everyone was up and either on bikes or in the bus before 8 and, once again, the Harleys galloped back onto the desolate highways of Wyoming.

The crew made it into South Dakota safely and surprisingly with no drama just after 1:00 pm. After a quick gas stop we arrived in Sturgis a few minutes later. Beau Manley, OX, Kenny Bell and the one and only Todd Potter rode on to the American landmark Mt. Rushmore.

From there it was an insane ride down highway 338 through a majestic green canyon filled with Harley riders going both ways past creeks, lakes and skyscraping trees.

As we got into town we rode through the jam packed streets of downtown Sturgis as the boys made their way back to the Broken Spoke Campground, where the party was already underway. Potter rode a CR250 into the bar where he managed to wheelie in and out of people and expensive show bikes while security chased him around.
Good times, I cant wait to see what day four will bring.
